For This Great Memory

If you have any photos to share, send them to rockaway@astound.net

Those of us who grew up in Far Rockaway in the 40's - 70's will certainly remember Grants and Woolworths on Central Avenue.  In addition to the great values we could find for only 5 or 10 cents, Woolworth's had a lunch counter where you could sit down, take a break, and have ice cream or a sandwich.  Thanks to Helene, you can take a walk down memory lane when the price of a Toasted Three Decker Baked Ham and Cheese sandwich was 60 cents, or a slice of apple pie and a coke was 25 cents.  I'm not sure exactly what year this menu represents but you would have to say, those were the days!

Thanks again to Helene for sending it to us.  Helene can be reached at whitedove38@hotmail.com
